How would you like to help with Scouting in your area and change the lives of the local young people?

Every week nationally, Scouting give almost half a million people aged 6-25 the skills they need for school, college, university, the job interview, the important speech, the tricky challenge and the big dreams: the skills they need for life.

The volunteer vacancies on the next page will help young people in the Dover area to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

Dover District Scouts is one of 22 Districts in Kent, and covers the 8 Scout groups in the area of Dover. This is a large District ranging from Shepherdswell in the North, River in the North West, St Margaret's in the East as well as central Dover. Dover District has over 200 active scouts that are now meeting on a regular basis, but over the pandemic, like many charities we have been affected, and need more Adult support to ensure that we continue to thrive.

At a time when communities are becoming more divided, we bring people together. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more. We're a worldwide movement, creating stronger communities and inspiring positive futures. We welcome talent from all backgrounds and your contribution to help even more young people succeed in life.

If you have leadership and or management skills on your day to day job then you may be able to help Dover Scout District. You do not have to have been in the Scout Association previously, as there will be support within the District and Groups to get you up to speed.

There is no remuneration for these roles, however these roles will make a real difference to the young people of Dover, and this in itself is highly rewarding.

Vacancies include:

  • District Explorer Scouts Commissioner (DESC) - to coordinate the Explorer Units within the area (14 - 18 years)
  • Scout Active Support (SAS) Manager - to coordinate the Scout Actitve Support groups (>25 years)
  • Network Manager - to kick off, grow and coordinate the Scout Networks group ( 18 - 25 years)

  • Social Media Manager - to help us run our various Social Media platforms and Website, ensuring that they are kept up to date and that our external and internal social media presence is top notch
